President Decorates Deputy Commander of the Mauritanian Coast Guard

azzaman.info (Nouakchott): His Excellency the President of the Republic Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, on Friday, 28 November 2025, in Nouakchott, decorated the Deputy Commander of the Mauritanian Coast Guard, Navy Colonel Mohamed Salem Mohamed El Amine Hamza, as part of the celebrations marking the 65th anniversary of national independence.

This decoration comes in recognition of the pioneering role played by the Coast Guard in protecting the national coastline, strengthening maritime surveillance, combating illegal fishing, curbing irregular migration, and ensuring security and safety within the territorial waters.

It also reflects the special attention the President of the Republic gives to the fisheries sector and maritime and port infrastructure, as well as his appreciation of the vital role the Coast Guard plays in preserving maritime sovereignty and supporting national development.
