Iranian Embassy in Nouakchott Celebrates 47th Anniversary of the Founding of the Islamic Republic

The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran accredited to Mauritania hosted an official reception on Wednesday evening at Azalaï Hotel in Nouakchott, on the occasion of the 47th anniversary of the founding of the Islamic Republic of Iran, in the presence of government officials and members of the diplomatic corps.
The Mauritanian government was represented at the ceremony by the Minister of Islamic Affairs, El Fadhil Ould Sidaty, alongside the Ambassador and Director-General for Bilateral Cooperation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mohamed El Hanchi El Ketab, and the Ambassador and Director of the Asia and Oceania Department, Salek Mohamed Moussa, in addition to a number of officials and accredited ambassadors in Nouakchott.
In a speech delivered on the occasion, the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Mauritania, Jawad Abu, affirmed that bilateral relations between Nouakchott and Tehran are built on solid foundations of fraternity and mutual respect, noting the remarkable progress they have witnessed in recent years in the political, economic, scientific, and cultural fields.
The Ambassador explained that this rapprochement was crowned by a series of high-level bilateral meetings, which contributed to strengthening cooperation and exchanging expertise. He also welcomed the decision to waive visas for Mauritanian citizens wishing to enter Iran, highlighting its positive impact on boosting human and economic exchanges, as well as enhancing the participation of the public and private sectors in joint cooperation projects.
He further highlighted the symbolism of this national anniversary as embodying the values of independence, sovereignty, and self-reliance, reaffirming his country’s keenness to strengthen relations with friendly states, foremost among them Mauritania.
The ceremony concluded with a gala dinner attended by several ambassadors and members of the diplomatic corps, national figures, representatives of civil society, journalists, state officials, and friends of the embassy, in an atmosphere reflecting the strength of bilateral relations and the spirit of openness and cooperation between the two countries.
